Cruise Vacation - Greek Islands

In July we went on an 8 day cruise.

We started in Trieste, Italy

then Ancona, Italy

Our ship

On to the Greek islands of...

Santorini

We had the option of taking a gondola up to the city of Fira (also called Thira) riding donkeys, or walking. We decided to walk because both lines were long. You can see the path winding up the hillside in the picture above, it seemed like it took us hours to walk all the way up.

Here you see the people walking on the path with the donkeys...donkeys don't share very well and there were a lot of people who had never ridden before and probably shouldn't have here either. But we made it to the top without the donkeys walking on our toes. We took the gondola down the hill after walking around the city.

View from the top.

.......................................................Our ship is on the right

Mykonos

we took an excursion to this beach which was not a good choice as it was in the afternoon and we didn't have time to see any other part of the island. So here are some pictures of what we didn't see (not my pictures)...

We stopped in Athens, but since we had been there last summer we opted to stay on the ship, it was nice to have it almost all to our selves!

Chilling out on the boat...

Corfu...a favorite, we will have to go back to stay on this island for a few days!

Our last stop was Dubrovnik, Croatia...this was our other favorite stop, we want to return here for a longer stay.

You can walk on the fortress wall of the old city, so many of these pictures are from the rooftop view.

These pictures are of a family we met at dinner on the ship and we went site-seeing with them in Dubrovnik.
