Barcelona, Spain - Antoni Gaudi's creations

Gaudi's Sagrada Familia is a highlight of Barcelona, it was started in 1883, and has yet to be finished. They say it will be another 20 years....I guess we should start planning a trip for 2028!

This shows the sun shining through a window and the scaffolding inside the Familia

We went up in one of the towers of the Familia. Gaudi's main influence was in the shapes of things in nature and used it in his designs...you can see the shell in his stairs

One of the doors to enter the FamiliaA closer look reveals fruit at the top of the towersThe columns inside the Familia are like giant trees with branches reaching up into the heavens

We went to Parc Guell where many of Gaudi's works are...

More of Barcelona to come...

UK - conference

Wes attended a conference in the UK and I tagged along. We stayed at Studley Castle in a town called Studley in Warwickshire.

The castle was built in 1833 by Francis Holyoake. He assumed the name 'Goodricke'. Two years later he was made the first Baronet of Studley Castle. Elizabeth Martha became Lady Goodricke. In 1903 it became a women's college, closing in 1969. It has since become a conference center and wedding venue....

We were close to Birmingham, I took the train into town one day to take a few
pictures...
